"Game of Thrones" Season 7 premiere date has been announced by HBO and it would be arriving on TV screens in July, The New York Times claimed. The announcement was made in a unique manner and it tested the patience of the fans as they had to watch an hour-long video that contained nothing but melting ice. However, when the announcement was made, fans were relieved and now they are looking forward to the day when they will get to know the fate of their favorite characters.
They are happy but sad as well because "Game of Thrones" Season 7 marks the beginning of the end of the classic HBO show. Season 7 is the penultimate season and the award-winning series would come to an end after Season 8. Also, these two seasons would be shorter and have altogether 13 episodes which is all the more reason that has made the fans upset.
In the meantime, author George R.R. Martin has asked fans to nominate "Game of Thrones" Season 6 for Hugo Award. According to his blog, Live Journal, the author has expressed happiness at the prospect of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premiere announcement. He also revealed that they would be organizing premiere party nights in Santa Fe at the Jean Cocteau Cinema where they will be running a Season 6 marathon of the show.
He also requested fans to nominate "Game of Thrones" for Hugo Award and revealed that Season 6 is eligible for two categories. The first one is Best Dramatic Presentation Long Form, which happens to be his favorite and second is Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form.
It is worth mentioning here that "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premieres on July 16.
