"Iron Fist" has received mixed reviews from audiences but they have also figured out a connection with "Luke Cage" and the Reddit forum explains this connection quite vividly. Lewis Tan, on the other hand, has said that the decision to cast him as the villain and not the lead, is a missed opportunity on the part of the makers.
"Iron Fist" may not have been received expected applause but the web series did get its share of attention and now the fans have discovered a connection between Iron Fist and Luke Cage. According to Comicbook, social media followers have come up with an interesting link between the two superheroes. One Reddit user, who goes by the name of @Assassin1and2, has shared a fact on the forum.
According to the user, "Iron Fist" introduced viewers to a student Darryl but the child has already appeared in "Luke Cage." It happened in episode 10 when the boy was arrested by the police after the killing of a cop. Though the situation was sorted, Darryl's fate was left unexplained and now Iron Fist has revived him and he was last seen as injured at the end of the web show.
In related news, actor Lewis Tan has said that the makers did miss an opportunity when they did not cast him as the lead in "Iron Fist." According to Vulture, it would have been an interesting dynamic to see an Asian-American in the role of the superhero. The actor feels that it would have paid off had Marvel cast an Asian-American as "Iron Fist."
Tan also feels that it would have changed the dynamic of the show. Notably, Tan had auditioned for the role of the superhero and had gotten quite positive response from the team. In fact, they had begun to ask him about his dates and availability but then they decided to go with Finn. He was offered the role of the villain instead and he agreed.
It is worth mentioning here that the 13-episode web series "Iron Fist" released on March 17, 2017.
