Zynga Launches 'Draw Something 2', Kills Four Older Games

Zynga announced the launch of its new game "Draw Something 2", a sequel to its highly-successful Pictionary-like mobile app "Draw Something". The company also announced the shutting down of four of its older games.

Zynga's "Draw Something", released last year, was highly successful and an instant hit among users. Hoping to repeat on that success, the gaming company announced the launch of "Draw Something 2", a sequel to its highly-successful Pictionary-like mobile app.

The game had been in its developing stage for some time and TV Host Ryan Seacrest took to his Twitter account mid-March to reveal that he had tried out the new game.

The new version of the game includes new drawing tools along with new textures and patterns that can be incorporated into a user's drawing. It also includes a live social feed that allows players to follow artists, friends and celebrities. There's an added feature that allows users to comment and like pictures that may not be part of the game they're playing.

"Draw Something 2 is a new kind of experience that blurs the line between games and social apps, yet it builds on the magic that made the original one of the most popular mobile game franchises in the world," Travis Boatman, Zynga's senior vice-president of mobile, said in a statement. "Draw Something 2 gives people a creative way to connect with friends by drawing, sharing and checking out the feed. We couldn't be more proud of the New York mobile team that crafted the game."

Zynga also announced the shutting down of four of its older games that failed to bring in big bucks for the company. The games are "Empires and Allies", "Dream Zoo", "The Ville" and "Zynga City on Tencent".
