HP Slate 7 is now available in the U.S., two months after its official announcement for $169.99. Though it beats the Nexus 7, Google's tablet is far better when it comes to specifications.
Starting today, HP Slate 7 is now available in the United States for $169.99 and can be purchased through HP's own website. The tablet took a little over two months after its official announcement to finally be released in the United States. HP also confirmed that the company's Europe sale of the tablet has been pushed to June.
This is HP's first android tablet and comes with a 7-inch 1,024×600 touch screen, a VGA front camera, 3 MP rear camera, dual-core 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 8 GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a 3,500 mAh battery. The tablet runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
HP's tablet is $30 lesser than Google's Nexus 7, but inferior to the Nexus 7 as far as specifications go. Nexus 7 has two more core processors. It also has a higher resolution touch screen and better battery backup. Moreover, software support is better for Nexus 7. However, the advantages of the Slate over Google's Nexus 7 are its rear camera and microSD card slot.
Both tablets have their own strength and weaknesses, and both are top contenders in the market for cheap tablets. Users can choose between the two based on their requirements.
