The Nets (16-22) have brought themselves back into playoff contention after winning six of their last seven games. The surging Nets could receive additional help in the backcourt with the return of Deron Williams, who missed the last five games after spraining his left ankle on Jan. 4.
Williams underwent injections in both ankles after the Jan. 4 sprain and told ESPN on Sunday he plans to play against the Knicks. Although he's expected to return on Monday, the All-Star guard admitted he isn't sure when he'll feel 100 percent healthy.
"It took me a while last year," Williams said, via ESPN. "It wasn't like it happened over night. It was a little process but you know I'll only know until I go out there."
Nets coach Jason Kidd declined to elaborate on whether Williams would face any minutes restriction.
"We won't roll him out there and play him 38 minutes," said Kidd. "So we'll see."
New York (15-25), meanwhile, has lost three straight games after stringing together a season-best five-game winning streak. The Knicks' struggles at home continued on Friday in a 109-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
"It seems we can't figure it out here on our home court," Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said. "But despite these last couple of games, I think we've got a great stretch that can work in our favor if we get some things right, adjust some things and figure it out quickly."
