No. 8 Kansas (13-4) is looking for their fifth straight win when they host No. 24 Baylor. Even more impressive, Kansas' last three wins came against ranked teams: Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
"Definitely, I feel like we're sending a message," Jayhawks guard Naadir Tharpe said, via ESPN. "Even though we have a lot of young guys on the team, we're here to play. We're here to defend our title. I feel like we have a great chance of doing it."
Freshman star Andrew Wiggins continues to make a bid to go No. 1 in this summer's NBA draft while averaging 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, although Oklahoma State held him to just three points on Saturday.
No. 24 Baylor, meanwhile, is ranked No. 24 after struggling throughout January. The Bears (13-4) have lost three of their last four games, including two straight.
"I think any team who loses no matter what you say, they are affected. You can say we're going to come out and they'll be (ticked) off," Baylor coach Scott Drew said. "It's just basketball. There's parity. When you are winning, you've got swag and things are going better. When you are losing, you just can't second-guess yourself."
Despite never beating Kansas at home, Baylor is confident they can bounce back from their recent woes with a win at Allen Fieldhouse.
"It shouldn't be tough to refocus," Baylor forward Cory Jefferson said. "It doesn't matter who we're playing. If you're us, and like you said we haven't had a lot of success, it shouldn't mean anything. We can go up there and change that with the way we go out and play. If it's Kansas, it doesn't mean anything either. They know they've got to come out and play just as ready we do."
