North Korea Confirms US Citizen Arrest Amidst Growing Tensions Over Nuclear Tests Crisis [Report]

North Korea just confirmed that a US citizen who is also a professor in Pyongyang was arrested while the country is dealing with the growing tensions with the United States of America through the administration of Donald Trump. Due to this, some were telling that this will add more fuel to the conflict which started with the nuclear testing.

Reports escalated that Kim Sang-Duk or Tony Kim was detained at the airport of North Korea last April 22. He was arrested after he was trying to leave the country while he became e lecturer at one of the elite universities in Pyongyang.

After it was confirmed that Kim was arrested, Korean Central News Agency said that the reason for the arrest was because of crimes he committed. According to Mail Online, it was reported that the US citizen committed crimes of hostility which was aimed to upturn the DPRK. The name of the country was also used which aggravated the crime more.

Mr. Kim, a US citizen was arrested by special law enforcement forces and made all the preparations regarding his arrest. After being arrested and while being detained, the law enforcements are also conducting investigations regarding his crime.

The arrest of the US citizen is very timely with the ongoing tensions between North Korea and the U.S. It can be recalled that President Donald Trump has been gathering support from Asian countries to stop North Korea's nuclear testing programs.

Moreover, it was also reported that U.S. has been pressuring China to impose sanctions in order to influence North Korea. Latest reports according to Reuters were telling that China is planning to stop the importation of crude oil to North Korea and if this happens, the stability of the latter's regime will really be affected.

As confirmation of Mr. Kim's arrest escalated in the past days, some were telling that this will add to the increasing tension between U.S. and North Korea. But if these two will deal things diplomatically, further conflicts will be prevented.
