Verizon Introduces New 250MB Shared Data Plan For $20 A Month For A Limited Time

Verizon is expanding its Share Everything family data plan by dropping its basic $40, 500MB plan to $20, 250MB for a limited time.

Verizon Wireless, the biggest wireless carrier in the world, has added a new option to its Share Everything family data plan. The new plan, which is available for a limited time, lets users get 250MB shareable pool of data for $20 per month, down from its usual $40, 500MB plan. The data amount is added to Verizon's Share Everything plan that starts at $30 per month for a basic phone and $40 for each smartphone on the network. The newest data option for a smartphone would cost $60 per month.

Verizon did not reveal the last date for the offer, but customers can grab the offer right away. However, the offer is best suited for those who use the smartphone's data at bare minimum level. Taking Verizon's number into consideration, an average smartphone user consumes 1-2GB data per month. But the new plan comes after a positive response toward the Share Everything plans offered by the company.

"We saw how popular our existing family of Share Everything plans is, so we looked at ways to provide the versatility of these plans to those exploring upgrading to a 4G LTE device," Jerry Fountain, president Verizon Wireless Carolinas/Tennessee Region, said in a statement. "Our customers value Verizon's 4G LTE network for its speed and reliability, and accessing the full power of our network is now easier than ever with this new entry-level plan."

The new plan comes soon after the carrier reduced the wait time to upgrade smartphones from six months to just 30 days.

In comparison with rival carriers, Verizon's new deal isn't the best users can get in the market; AT&T offers 300MB for the same price. T-Mobile, which has threatened the leading U.S. carriers, offers unlimited talk, text and 2.5GB data for $60 and an extra $10 for unlimited data. It is unclear whether Verizon's new move will attract many subscribers, but it is good to see different carriers make unique attempts to rack up more subscribers.
