The budget proposal to be presented by President Donald Trump on Tuesday will reportedly focus on giving a boost to the defense spending, and is expected that there will be unprecedented cuts to programs for the poor or for people who belong to the lower income bracket, as suggested by the budget blueprint shared by the budget director.
According to the blueprint shared by Mick Mulvaney, President Trump seeks to eradicate the budgetary deficit in ten years and he will be proposing cuts to Medicaid, entitlements, as well as food stamps, NBC News reported. The report also stated that Mulvaney feels that for the first time the budget has been prepared considering the taxpayers.
The budget proposal that President Trump will present on Tuesday aims to save through the cuts in Medicaid and other anti-poverty schemes. Earlier, just after being sworn in office, President Trump had said that with the cut in welfare programs, he aims to bring people back into the workforce.
President Trump also plans to cut food stamps by 25 percent over the decade, ABC News reported. So, the coming decade might see a $193 billion cut in food stamps. At present, the program serves 42 million people and with the cut in food stamps, millions of people will be off the program.
Moreover, the White House will be revoking the Obamacare program that was rolled out by former President Barack Obama. Additionally, the budget proposes reforming the tax codes and investing in infrastructure that will, in turn, help the economy to flourish and is it is expected that it will reduce deficits by $2 trillion over the next decade.
However, it remains to be seen whether Congress will pass the budget as proposed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday. Especially since the proposal for the major cuts has already been criticized and it might not find the required amount of support.
