Rihanna is the latest celebrity to "die" from an Internet death hoax. Rumors started earlier this week after a link began floating around the Internet claiming that Rihanna's body was found after she had been raped.
The link, titled "R.I.P. - SINGER RIHANNA FOUND TO BE DEAD AFTER BEING RAPED! 2014," features a bogus video that claims the "Stay" singer died Sunday, Jan. 19. In order to watch the video, Internet users must share the video on Facebook which is a known scam.
Reportedly people who share the video jeopardize their Facebook accounts being hacked and their information being stolen. This is the same scam that hit the Internet last month claiming that rapper Lil Wayne was found dead after suffering a seizure.
It's not clear who keeps putting these insensitive and tasteless hoax's out there but thankfully fans of these "dead" stars don't fall for them.
"Can't believe people are saying Rihanna's dead. I'm pretty sure of you go on her Instagram she's having a great time in Brazil," @emmacarroll_ tweeted.
"Why on earth are people saying Rihanna is dead. Are you serious she's been uploading the sexiest pictures ALL DAY," @lucewortho posted.
"Rihanna has been found dead ok but she posted a picture on Instagram 23 minutes ok smh," @idekben wrote on Twitter.
"So now everyone thinks Rihanna's dead! She died on Sunday yet she was posting on Instagram half an hour ago! Gullible people," @JemmaDix tweeted.
Rihanna hasn't responded to the death hoax but she has been tweeting all day, so our guess is that she's fine. Unfortunately, Rihanna isn't the only celebrity who was plagued with a death rumor. Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Jackie Chan have also "died" several times according to the hoaxes.
