The hacker/activist group called Anonymous released the personal information of the police officers involved in the brutal beating which led to the death of mentally-ill Kelly Thomas, DigitalJournal.com reported.
Names, address, telephone numbers and even social media profiles for the officers were released after the two former Fullerton police officers Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli, and even some of their family members information, according to Digital Journal.
Thomas was a 37-year-old homeless man who suffered from schizophrenia. He was approached in a bus depot about car vandalism and then beaten by six Fullerton police officers, the Digital Journal reported. He died due to the injuries sustained during the beaten.
During the trial, a video from surveillance cameras at the bus depot were released and shows one of the officers in question putting on gloves, while the other yelled at Thomas about the beating he was receiving, the Digital Journal reported.
Both officers were acquitted of all charges in regards to Thomas' death.
Now, Anonymous has taken it upon themselves to make sure justice is served because they believe the two men should not have been acquitted with so much evidence tying them to an unnecessary and violent death, according to the Digital Journal.
The group released the image through social media sites with the officers information. The document also includes the information of other officers also accused of beating a deaf man in another case, the Digital Journal reported.
According to the Digital Journal, what Anonymous did is known as "DoXing" and the act is typically used to make private information publicly available.
Since the two officers have been acquitted, the Fullerton Police Department has come under pressure from protesters which led to the dispersal order and the arrest of 13 protesters this past week, according to the Digital Journal.
