Miami (30-12) responded to their loss on Monday to Atlanta with a 93-86 win the next night against Boston. As the Heat continue their home-stand on Thursday, they will be without Dwyane Wade for the fifth straight game. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra didn't sound worried, despite Wade already having missed 12 games this season because of knee issues.
"Heat Nation does not need to be panicked," Spoelstra said on Thursday, via ESPN. "In terms of Dwyane's health, we've said it time and time again: It's going to be a process. There's absolutely no way I'm going [to look] days ahead.
"I know he's feeling much better today to be in there (working out on Thursday). That's a good sign. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. Maybe he'll do a little bit more."
Miami has played 15 games in 28 days, something which Spoelstra said caused some wear and tear on Wade's body, according to ESPN.
The Lakers (16-26) are also still without their star player, Kobe Bryant. Bryant could return in early February from his knee injury, although no specific timetable has been given. Los Angeles is also still without Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Xavier Henry and Jordan Farmar.
Scoring duties have fallen to Nick Young, who's averaging 17.1 points per game. Los Angeles had strung together two straight wins before losing in overtime on Monday to Chicago.
"It's heartbreaking," said Young. "We felt like we were competing and was in it. That's all we can ask for."
Los Angeles has won just three of their last 16 games.
