Samsung has rubbished the reports about Galaxy Note 3's incompatibility with third-party accessories following a KitKat 4.4 upgrade.
Samsung is currently rolling out the latest Android 4.4 KitKat to all the Galaxy Note 3 units around the world. Users in some countries, where the official update has already hit the smartphones, started complaining about the device's incompatibility with third party accessories. Samsung's long rumored "accessory authentication" system that debuted along with the new update was apparently the culprit. But Samsung came forward to announce that reports claiming Note 3's incompatibility with other accessories were false.
In a statement released on the company's official German website, "All About Samsung," the tech giant said that the Galaxy Note 3 always supported third party accessories and the KitKat update had not changed that.
"To ensure a pleasant and smooth user experience with Samsung products for our customers, we recommend that only original accessories from Samsung are to be used. Of course, customers can continue to rely on third-party accessories," Samsung said in a statement published in the company's German website. "The full functionality of our devices and accessories, however, can only be ensured with genuine Samsung components, since only in this way it is certain that the equipment and accessories are perfectly matched."
"A correlation between the Android version 4.4 and the supposed incompatibility of third-party accessories does not exist."
The South Korean tech giant is currently rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 powered by Snapdragon 800, starting with Poland. Samsung also started pushing the software update to the device's Exynos processor variant, starting in Russia followed by other countries in the coming weeks, NDTV reports.
