Miley Cyrus Dead: Death Hoax Claims Singer Died Of Drugs And Alcohol Abuse

Miley Cyrus is the latest victim of the celebrity death hoaxes that circulate the Internet every now and then. Reports claimed that her death was caused due to drugs and alcohol abuse.

The hoax reportedly began on Facebook when a posting on the singer's fan page sent out condolences to Cyrus' family.

"At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (January 22, 2014), our beloved actress Miley Cyrus passed away. Miley Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the posting read, according to mediamass.net

Fans immediately commented on the post conveying their sympathies. However, some smarter fans were skeptical about the report and refrained from commenting.

The actress' reps on Thursday, officially confirmed that the songstress was not dead. "She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet," they said.

Just last week singer Rihanna became the victim of a similar hoax where reports claimed that her dead body was found after being raped. The actress nor her reps commented on the rumors but the singer did send out some tweets that same day (not related to the hoax) confirming she was very much alive.

Readers are rapidly getting bored of these hoaxes and don't find them amusing any more. A recent poll conducted by the Celebrity Post magazine showed a whopping 72 percent readers saying celebrity death hoaxes were "not funny anymore."
