NBA Player Death Threats: Police Investigating OKC Ball Boy After Threats to Patrick Beverley

Police are investigating the death threats NBA player Patrick Beverley received.

The Houston Rockets guard received the death threats on Twitter from an Oklahoma City Thunder ball boy, according to the Houston Chronicle. The tweets were posted on Friday and Saturday.

"Patrick Beverly (sic), I'm coming to kill you," one tweet said.

"I'm coming to kill you," a second tweet addressed to Beverley's twitter account said.

"We do not condone his comments. He works game nights on a voluntary basis. We will handle this matter internally," the Thunder said in a statement.

Beverley received the threats after injuring Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook last Wednesday in the NBA playoffs. Beverley tried to steal the ball and hit Westbrook's knee.

Doctors later diagnosed Westbrook with a torn meniscus in his right knee. The All-Star point guard is out indefinitely, and there is no timetable for his return. He had surgery on Saturday.

"That was not a dirty play," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "It's part of basketball. One of the things the kid does, he plays hard. Now, was it unfortunate and was he trying to under his skin? Absolutely. But it wasn't a dirty play. You want to play physical. You want to play hard. That's what I like. That's how you have to play."

"It's just an unfortunate play," Thunders' Kevin Durant said. "I hope he's not hanging his his head off it. It's just one of those freak accidents."

The Oklahoma City Police Department and Houston Police Department are jointly investigating the Internet threats.

Oklahoma City can sweep Houston with a win on Monday night.
