More than 170,000 people have recovered from COVID-19 globally, figures from Johns Hopkins University indicated.

The actual figure is possibly higher, as the data only covers confirmed cases.

South Korea has witnessed a huge number of recoveries, with nearly 75% its infected population has recovered from the novel coronavirus. The U.S. has tallied more than 4,800 recoveries out of the above 144,000 confirmed cases. Out of 81,000 cases in China that have been confirmed, 72,819 have recovered which is more than 90 percent.

While the coronavirus continues to be widespread, data reveals 107,811 people have recovered from the illness. 60,324 have been cured in Hubei, China, 8,913 have recovered in Iran, 8,326 in Italy, and above 3,000 in Spain. More than 15,000 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

More than 170,000 people have recovered from COVID-19 globally, figures from Johns Hopkins University indicated.

In around 177 countries and regions, above 765,000 coronavirus cases have been registered in since the coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province in China last December. More than 40,000 deaths have been tallied.

The overall death rate is maintained low at smaller than 5% of those that have contracted the illness.

The achievement offers a glimmer of hope as the United States and many countries in Europe are looking at a rise in infections, deaths, and lockdowns.

The coronavirus required more than three months to infect more than 100,000 people across the world, mostly in China.

In order to inhibit the coronavirus from spreading, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises to wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer.

The majority of cured patients are in China, where the coronavirus was first detected and where the peak of the pandemic has passed. Above 80,000 people in China have recuperated from the coronavirus. 59,000 of those in the Hubei province alone have been cured. Other nations recording the most cases as well are Iran, Spain, and Italy.

Italy leads the world in the highest number of deaths but has witnessed above 15,000 recoveries out of its more than 100,000 cases. 11,000 fatalities have been recorded.

Although the country ranks second to China in terms of confirmed cases, it comes third behind Iran in terms of the number of successful cases. Italy also maintains the largest number of deaths from the coronavirus, almost double the number of fatalities in China's Hubei province.

No new cases were recorded in Hubei for at least a consecutive four days and no locally transmitted cases were witnessed within the whole of China.

According to authorities, the 46 new cases confirmed in China on Saturday are from people who arrived from different countries.

Estimates indicate that 99 percent of people who contracted the coronavirus are wont to make a full recovery.

Nations have been struggling to implement testing as quickly as they would prefer to, which means that the actual figure of recovery is possibly greater.

Advised by WHO, people should wear face masks only if they are ill or caring for someone who is sick.
