Queen Latifah Officiates Mass Wedding At 2014 Grammys (VIDEO)

Dozens of weddings were officiated at the same time by Queen Latifah during a historic moment at the 56th Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Latifah, or "Queen Commish," hosted the 33 marriages as rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and singer Mary Lambert took to the stage to perform their same-sex rights anthem "Same Love."

The stage was decorated to look like a church during the performance as the couples- from same-sex to heterosexual- exchanged vows.

"I think they're brave," Latifa, 43, said, according to the New York Daily News. "I think they should be celebrated tonight because to have your wedding in front of 100 million people is pretty momentous. And it's been fun at the rehearsals."

The actress and talk show host was temporarily sworn in as a commissioner to officiate the weddings. Planning for the mass wedding was kept secret, The New York Times reported. The couples could not even tell their families about the plan.

"Just looking at the joy in their eyes, looking at the playfulness, looking at them look at each other's eyes and do dances. This is really a moment for them. They are very, very happy. And I'm just here. I can say I was here, and that will not leave me," Latifah said, the Daily News reported.

"Same Love," which was nominated for Song of the Year, became known as the anthem for gay rights and marriage equality when it came out last year. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also won several Grammys, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance.

For Lewis, whose sister Laura also got married, Sunday was "a night that is already tremendous for me, for the music, but to have my sister get married and my family there watching it- that makes it a whole other level of amazing."

Madonna joined in on the celebration with the rap duo as she performed her song "Open Your Heart" at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Latifah, who started out as a rapper during the late '80s, said she was excited about signing of on all 33 marriages, but they had to be quick because her powers expired at midnight.

"I had to be sworn in as an official. I'm not a minister. If you come see me before 12 o'clock tonight, I got your back. After that, you'll have to take the regular rout." Latifah said, the Daily News reported.
