Suns Sports reporter Kelly Nash was in Boston as the red-hot Red Sox took on the newly-moved Houston Astros on Saturday. Since the game had not started, she decided to take some “selfies” while standing atop the Green Monster—something countless baseball fans have done since the giant wall was built.
However, she was in a real surprise when she looked at the photos she took of herself. In one, she sees a ball nearly hitting her as it flies past her head, according to Fox Sports.
Nash apparently ignored her producer as her tried to warn her of the baseballs that were being hit during batting practice.
"Producer Art Dryce had called out 'heads up!' a few times while I was taking pictures around the left field section, but none of those balls actually fell close to me, so I took my chances turning my back on batting practice for a picture,” she said.
She joked about the near-injury experience after wards.
"I laughed pretty hard when I saw such a surreal picture that I had no idea I took. I thought, you have got to be kidding me, maybe there ARE really angels in the outfield. I actually brought the movie with me on the trip and had it in my bag at the game,” she said. Her producer decided to make the ball a souvenir.
"Art had picked up what we think was that ball and gave it to me after we saw in the photo how close it came to my head,” she said.
The Red Sox beat the Astros by a score of 8-4 on Saturday. This season marks the Red Sox best start since 2002. The Astros on the other hand appear to be repeating the abysmal performance last year and are at the bottom of their new home in the American League West.
