Oscar-nominated star Gabourey Sidibe will be joining the cast of "American Horror Story: Coven". Sidibe got her big break in the film "Precious", which landed her a Best Actress nomination. Executive Producer Ryan Murphy, tweeted confirmation of the rumor.
The third season of the FX's horror thriller is set to premier on Halloween night this October. The star will be joining new cast mate Kathy Bates and returning players Jessica Lang, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy.
The announcement came the same day that the final season of Showtime's "The Big C" begins its final four episodes. The 29-year-old, Sidibe, plays Andrea an outspoken and aspiring fashion student.
Sidibe's character and role for "American Horror Story" have not yet been revealed. The popular horror series is described as self-contained miniseries with each series focusing on a group of people with its own story line.
In season one, "American Horror Story: Murder House", the series followed a family set in present time that moved into a house haunted by its former occupants. The second season, Asylum, took place in 1964 and followed inhabitants of an institution for the criminally insane.
Even though hints of the third season have been under tight wraps, some clues have been leaked to give fans an idea of what to expect. The title, "Coven", indicates it might have something to do with witches, filming is said to take place in New Orleans and a clue about the third season is going to be hidden in the tenth episode of Asylum, called "The Name Game".
