NVIDIA is bringing support for its TegraZone app on non-Tegra devices among other features including Play Game Services integration, easy share and more.
NVIDIA, the Santa Clara, California-based software company, has rolled out an updated TegraZone app, Monday, bringing support for Google Play Game Services along with a slew of other features. The updated app, which brings the version to 2.9, now supports non-Tegra devices, easy sharing of shortcut icon through social network, support for NVIDIA SHIELD controls and Android HID controllers for STBs and micro consoles.
TegraZone helps users find Android games optimized for Tegra-powered devices, but with the update, non-Tegra devices can enjoy a similar experience. Users can check for professional game reviews, high-resolution screenshots, HD videos for a better detail on the game, all in one place. TegraZone redirects users to the respective game on Google Play Store so it can be installed on usual terms.
TegraZone's integration with Play Game services provides "achievements for downloading games, submitting reviews and ratings, and spreading the word about TegraZone games," NVIDIA said in a press release. The new app also adds other features such as Google+ customization, TegraZone Collections, dynamic loading of additional content and access to archived news.
NVIDIA's decision to expand its support to all Android devices is clearly due to the lack of Tegra hardware. TegraZone was launched in 2011 and was limited to Tegra-based devices with apps optimized for Tegra chips. Companies like HTC, LG and Google used Tegra 3 in a various flagship devices, but new devices with Tegra processor are very few.
The update to TegraZone app also brings Google+ login, meaning users can have a personalized experience.
The TegraZone app version 2.9 can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store on Android devices running version 2.2 and above.
