Anna Paquin might not have been cut from "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" after all!
Paquin was featured on one of the 25 new character covers revealed on Empire magazine Jan. 27. It was an odd sight to find Rogue on one of the covers considering reports of Paquin's scenes being cut from the film surface in December 2013.
"Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous," director Bryan Singer told Entertainment Weekly. "It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."
However, Singer and the film's writer Simon Kinberg cleared up the confusion in an interview with Empire magazine.
"It was one real sequence in the movie," Kinberg said. "We felt like it was taking tension out of the main story drive."
"It does not mean that we won't see her in the film," Singer added. "Also, I hope to make the sequence available on the DVD as she was quite wonderful in it. She is an important part of the X-Men family. I'm very pleased she will remain as one of Empire's anniversary covers."
Rogue might not be getting as much screen time as the other mutants, but fan favorites are back in the film such as the Jennifer Lawrence as the sexy Mystique. Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and more fan favorites are back and were featured on the Empire covers.
"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" is slated to hit theaters on May 23.
