Ouya announced a redesigned version of its Android gaming console with a revamped controller, double storage and more for $129.99.
Ouya created havoc in the gaming industry when it was first launched with a ridiculously low price. But the Android-based gaming console failed to win many hearts with its game-play and got poor reviews. But Ouya has no plans to give up the race. In a latest attempt, the gaming company announced a revised version of its $99, 8GB Ouya Android gaming console. The new model comes with a revamped controller, double storage, boosted Wi-Fi connectivity, and faster response, all for $129.99.
Firstly, on the exterior front, the new Ouya gaming console has ditched the glossy finish for a matching matte black controller. Under the hood, the gaming console has got several tweaks. It borrows the expanded 16GB storage from the limited edition white Ouya, launched late last year.
The updated model not only features a redesigned controller with double storage, but also features boosted Wi-Fi connectivity, improved Bluetooth function and updated firmware for better gaming experience and quick response overall.
The new Black Ouya is available online through various retailers including Amazon in Canada and in the U.S. and through the company's official site. The suggested retail price for the updated version is $129.99. The new model does not replace the original $99 Ouya console, which will be available online.
With its effective pricing, Ouya challenges big players like Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One. It may not be too long before a new Android-based competition comes from one of its closest retailer, Amazon.
