Microsoft is giving away probably the biggest offer on its original first-gen Surface Pro tablets - $400 lesser than its usual price.
It seems like Microsoft is clearing out the old stocks of its first-generation Surface Pro tablets. The latest offer slashes the price of the original tablet PC, which was first launched in February last year for $999, down to 499.99. Shoppers can save $400 flat on the purchase of a new Surface Pro and the offer is good only while the stocks last.
Microsoft's Surface Pro is mostly taken over by the Haswell-powered Surface Pro 2, the new offer is still a great deal for a tablet with decent looks and performance, coupled with the company's signature features like the Surface kickstand. The Surface Pro features standard MS apps and services along with a 10.6-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution display and 128GB built-in space. It is powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-3317U, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4 GB of RAM.
The sudden price drop may likely be due to the older processor, as the newer $899 entry-level Surface Pro 2 tablet runs the latest Intel Haswell processor.
The offer on the Surface Pro tablet is available from Microsoft retail outlets and Best Buy online and retail stores. The offer lasts only for this weekend or till stocks last, so the advice is to act fast.
The news of the price reduction on the Surface Pro follows another announcement from Best Buy that kickstarts a new promotion, Sunday. The offer, which ends on February 15, lets customers sign up for a $50 Best Buy card that can be redeemed while purchasing and activating a mobile phone at Best Buy anytime during 2014. The full details of the new offer can be found here.
