The social software and application manufacturer Inq Mobile went dark with a closing message on Friday.
Inq Mobile, which is fully owned by Hutchison Whampoa, was founded in 2008. It has launched a couple of successful products, namely Magazine and SO.HO, and a series of prized handsets, including INQ1, INQ Mini 3G, INQ Chat 3G and INQ Cloud Chat. These phones are embedded with Facebook, Skype, Twitter, and Windows Live Messenger.
Material, which was launched in August, is designed to look for contents that its user desires. It used to dive users a fresh update of content two times a day -- one in the morning and one in the evening. The fillings of its every edition are compiled to match the likes and interests of each user.
SO.HO, the other social software, lets users see social site feeds on their home screen. It also allows them to update their status, like, comment, and post tweets with a full screen version of their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter once their phones get unlocked.
However, due to the new trend in which big technology and Internet companies start to offer their own tools, software and application, it will be hard for the London, UK-based company to contend, according to TechCrunch opinion on this matter. The aggressive competition seemed to drive Inq Mobile to shut down.
In its website, the company announced that it will close its door on Jan. 31, 2014. Material, its personalized magazine Material will serve its final editions on Jan. 28. Its mobile launcher SO.HO, on the other hand, will still continue working but will not receive updates anymore from this point forward.
The London, UK-based company assured its users also that personal data, secrets and details will remain confidential even after its closure.
"As neither Material nor SO.HO retained any personal data about you or your social network usage, then your social media secrets and details remain confidential to you," stated the company.
