MSU Shooting Update: 20-Year-Old Student, Dominique James Nolff, Dies Of 'Multiple Gunshot Wounds'

A shooting at off-campus housing of Michigan State University on Friday left one student dead and one student injured, NBCNews.com reported.

Dominique James Nolff, 20, died of "multiple gunshot wounds" on Saturday at Sparrow Hospital, according to a statement issued by the East Lansing Police Department. A second victim, whose identity has not been released, suffered one gunshot wound and was treated and released on Friday.

The shooting occurred at 8:45 p.m. at the Cedar Village residence area.

The police department said they are "working diligently" to find the gunman, who is described as a male in his 20s. Local news outlets reported the suspect as African American, wearing tan pants, a black coat, and black boots or shoes at the time of the shooting.

Officials added that the shooting did "not appear to be a random act."

"This is near but not on the MSU campus. There is no indication of immediate danger to the campus community," said MSU spokesman Kent Cassella on Friday.
