Current NFL free agent Chad Johnson treated a homeless man in Miami to a night out on the town over the weekend.
A homeless man named Porkchop, his first name is Robert, his last name is unknown, saw Johnson in Miami over the weekend and asked the football player to buy him a beer.
Johnson did one better.
Not only did he drink several beers with Porkchop, but Johnson also bought him gifts: cigarettes, new clothes, a watch and an all-expense-paid night out in Miami, according to the L.A. Times.
Johnson kept his millions of Twitter followers updated on his two-day extravaganza with Porkchop. He even vowed on Twitter to use all his available resources to try and help Porkchop in the long term.
When a follower tweeted that Porkchop's new stuff had been stolen, Johnson replied that he would buy the items again.
Johnson pointed out in a tweet that he, like Porkchop, is unemployed. The 35-year-old couldn't find a team to sign with last season. He last stepped onto the field in 2011 with the New England Patriots, where he caught a career-low 15 passes.
The Miami Dolphins signed Johnson before the 2012 season, but released him in August after police arrested him for domestic battery.
Johnson spent his most productive years with the Cincinnati Bengals. The six-time Pro Bowler has a career total 766 receptions, 11,059 receiving yards and 67 touchdowns.
