Illinois Man, Michael Worsham, Fatally Shoots Wife, Stepdaughter, And Stepson

A man in a Chicago suburb fatally shot his wife, stepdaughter, and stepson on Sunday night and then died of an unknown cause, NBC Chicago reported.

Authorities arrived at the Robbins home around 11 p.m. and discovered four bodies, only three of which had gunshot wounds. Michelle Ollie, 42, and Trisdion Worsham, 15, were pronounced dead at the scene. Steven Worsham, 17, was pronounced dead after being rushed to Metro South Hospital.

Michael Worsham, 43, was also transported to Metro South Hospital and pronounced dead. However, his cause of death is still unknown.

"I just left the house a few minutes ago and it's a mess over there," Sheriff Tom Dart said before 9 a.m. Monday. "Horrific, seeing a very tiny house covered in blood ... We're really struggling with how did something like this escalate to this point?"

A 14-year-old boy home during the shooting said he tried to wrestle the gun from his stepfather's grip before he shot his mother and siblings. His stepfather reportedly told him he could leave the house if he stopped fighting for the gun, so he called for his sister and grabbed his 5-year-old nephew.

As they began running, Worsham shot at the teen's 15-year-old sister and killed her.

"Our prayers go out to everyone," Robbins Police Chief Michael Davis said. "That 14-year-old is a hero. He saved his own life and he saved the life of his 5-year-old nephew. I want to make it clear to the citizens of Robbins that this is a domestic incident. This was an isolated incident."

On Monday, the 14-year-old was in the custody of his aunt and the 5-year-old was back with his mother. The Department of Children and Family Services said they have no record of contact with the family.

Authorities said Worsham was a security guard and owned a valid Firearm Owners Identification card.
