A win on Monday would tie Chelsea (15-5-3) with Manchester City (17-2-4) for second place with 53 points. Chelsea had been on a seven-game winning streak in all competition until a 0-0 draw on Wednesday against West Ham.
With the chance to tie City in points, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho plans to come out aggressive against City.
"I want to attack them, I can tell you that," Mourinho said, via IB Times. "But maybe after 10 or 20 minutes you realize Jose isn't attacking. If I don't it's because I can't. I don't know if other teams refuse to attack or if they can't do it.
City, meanwhile, has won all of their last five competitions and can make a statement with a win over Chelsea. The three points would also push City ahead of first-place Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
"The game against Chelsea is very important to both teams," City boss Manuel Pellegrini said. "Arsenal and Chelsea are both having a good season.
"Whatever happens in the game, the season is not over. There are still 42 points to play for. At the moment, we are not thinking about titles. We are thinking about improving and winning every game."
