Yemeni Girl Cries Stones Instead Of Tears, Stuns Doctors And Alarms Villagers (WATCH)

A 12-year-old girl baffled doctors when her eyes oozed out stones instead of tears while crying, triggering panic in her rural area that it could be either magic, epidemic or being "possessed," UK MailOnline reported.

The girl, Saadiya Saleh, who lives in a village in Yemen, produces small, hard stones beneath her eyelids instead of tears. The tiny stones are then naturally pushed to the front of her eyes, before falling down her cheeks.

As reported by Emirates247, a YouTube video of the bizarre phenomenon was uploaded by Yemen's Azal satellite TV.

The footage shows Saadiya lying on a hospital bed, surrounded by doctors and relatives - one of whom can be seen brushing a stone out of the child's eye with a cloth, UK MailOnline reported.

A doctor then holds up a small box of the stones that came from her eyes within just a few hours.

"This case is the second strange phenomenon in the region," Azal's presenter said in a report from the western Yemeni province of Hudaidah.

With Saadiya not suffering from any known disease, medics said they could not give an explanation for the condition, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, locals have spoken of their fears that the young girl might be possessed by magic, UK MailOnline reported.

"The case has triggered panic in the area where this girl lives," a local presenter can be heard saying in the video. "Some say the girl could be gripped by a magic spell, while others say it might be the devil."

He adds, "Others fear it could be the start of a dangerous epidemic."

Back in 2011, a similar phenomenon occurred where a 7-year-old girl in Hyderabad, India baffled doctors because of the stones that were dropping from her eyes. Kura Nitya's right eye was known to be discharging these stones -- as many as 25 stones per day.
