A California woman has been charged with 16 felony counts after a 28-year-old woman accused her of engaging in a sexual relationship with her when she was 12-years-old.
The allegations surfaced with the alleged victim Jamie Carrillo posted a video on YouTube on Jan. 17 of a secretly recorded phone conversation between her and the alleged abuser, 40-year-old Andrea Michelle Cardosa. Cardosa was a vice principal at Alhambra High School.
The Los Angeles Times reports a second alleged victim came forward to authorities after Carrillo released the video.
According to KTLA 5, Cardosa was arrested on Monday and "charged in connection with alleged illegal sexual contact with two underage students when she was a teacher and administrator in Riverside County."
In the video titled "A call to my childhood rapist teacher", Carrillo confronted Cardosa about the abuse she endured while she was a student.
"I was only 12 years old when I met you. Do you realize that you brainwashed me and you manipulated me and that what you did was wrong?" Carrillo said to Cardosa in the video.
Cardosa went on in the video to tell Carrillo she regretted her alleged sexual relationship with her and didn't intend to hurt her.
"Cardosa was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, five counts of lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, and six counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years of age while the defendant was at least 10 years older than the victim," the DA's office confirmed to KTLA 5.
The former vice principal is scheduled to be arraigned in the Riverside Hall of Justice on Thursday.
According to the LA Times, Cardosa passed all necessary background checks to work in the public school system. You can watch's Carrillo's alleged recorded conversation with Cardosa in the video below.
