A former police captain charged with second-degree murder after allegedly killing a man in a movie theater is scheduled for a bond hearing on Wednesday, SFGate.com reported.
Judge Pat Siracusa will decide if 71-year-old Curtis Reeves, accused of killing 43-year-old Chad Oulson, should be granted bail. He will also determine if a video of the incident can be made public.
On Tuesday, surveillance footage of the incident was given to defense attorneys.
In January, Oulson attended a screening of "Lone Survivor" with his wife, Nicole, when he got in a heated confrontation with Reeves.
According to authorities, Reeves became irritated when Oulson wouldn't stop texting. The men then began arguing and Oulson reportedly threw popcorn at Reeves, who then retaliated by allegedly shooting him.
Reeves was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and held without bail.
Weeks following the shooting, officials released the 911 call made after the altercation took place.
Emergency dispatchers were notified that an off-duty nurse was present at the time of the shooting. He identified himself as a nurse on the call and requested an ambulance, citing Oulson's weak pulse.
"Come on, buddy, breathe. Breathe, buddy," the nurse is heard saying to Oulson.
Once authorities learned that the shooter was still in the theater, the dispatcher told the nurse that a deputy had to enter the theater before paramedics could. However, the dispatcher was also told that an off-duty police officer was in the theater, who detained Reeves and took his gun until on-duty officers arrived.
