Returning cover athlete, Ronda Rousey, is set to appear on ESPN's Special 15th anniversary cover. The UFC women's bantamweight champion, who previously appeared nude on its 2012 Body Issue, will resume her role as a cover star.
According to Yahoo Sports, Rousey is one of four athletes chosen to grace the covers of ESPN The Magazine, which hits newsstands May 3. Blake Griffin, Bryce Harper, and Washington Redskins quarterback, Robert Griffin III, will also appear.
The mixed martial artist took to her Facebook page to promote the coming issue she's featured on.
"Don't forget to pick up the 15th anniversary issue of ESPN coming soon," wrote Rousey to her fans.
Rousey's current success within the media has helped the visibility of women's UFC, reported iSportsTimes. UFC president, Dana White, took a chance on women's MMA that proved successful.
"She's a rock star, man. She's been killing it for us. I just hope that we can get some really good fights for her. I love Ronda, man. I do," said White after the success of Rousey.
Rousey is the first woman to win a gold medal during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, in the sport of Judo. Rousey's mother was also an accomplished Judo athlete.
The premiere of Rousey's cover comes in good timing. Yahoo Sports announced the MMA champ will coach the new season of "The Ultimate Fighter".
Rousey will share the stage with fellow fighter "Alpha" Cat Zingano, who received the role after defeating Miesha "Cupcake" Tate.
Rousey and Zingano are gearing up to fight each other, later this year. A date for the fight has not been set as of yet.
The 26-year old fighter nicknamed "Rowdy", signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2012. Rousey became the first female fighter to accomplish such a feat.
According to MMAWeekly, Rousey is the No. 1 pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world.
