Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee reportedly may miss the rest of the season because of his leg injury. The trade value of Andre Miller, meanwhile, is falling as the veteran remains excused from all team activities.
McGee played in just five games this season before being diagnosed in November with a stress fracture in his left leg. The injury hasn't improved and could sideline him for the remainder of the season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
"(McGee) could miss the rest of the season because of a stress fracture in his left leg, league sources told Yahoo Sports," Wojnarowski wrote on Thursday. "McGee, 26, has been seeking further medical consultation on the injury, which hasn't been able to heal properly this season, league sources said.
"A final decision on his status could come in the next several days."
Losing McGee for the season would be another blow to the 24-23 Nuggets, who've already lost Nate Robinson and Danilo Gallinari to season-ending injuries.
With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the buzz around Miller is fading. Miller was suspended and then indefinitely excused from team activities following his heated argument with coach Brian Shaw about playing time.
The longer Miller doesn't play, the less he's worth as an asset in a trade.
"Miller has not played since December 30, and the combination of his prolonged absence from action, his confrontation with Shaw and the Nuggets' pressing needs as they chase the final spot in the Western Conference have driven down his value on the trade market," Sean Deveney of Sporting News wrote on Tuesday. "Some teams that might have been interested have already acquired new backup guards."
The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 20, and Shaw recently told the Denver Post he has no intentions of reaching out to Miller.
