Arizona (21-1), ranked No. 2 in the nation, had their 21-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 60-58 loss to California. Focus will not only be on how the Wildcats bounce back from their first loss of the year, but also how they respond to losing sophomore forward Brandon Ashley for the season.
Ashley, who averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, broke his foot after awkwardly landing on it during Saturday's loss. The team announced on Sunday Ashley would be out for the remainder of the season.
"It's a huge loss for us not to have Brandon for the rest of the season," Arizona sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski said, via ESPN. "But we still feel that even without him, we still have a great team."
Despite the loss of Ashley, Arizona is still confident about their chances to make a title run in March.
"No one expected us to do as well as we have this year; we kind of just let our play do the talking," Wildcats junior guard T.J. McConnell said. "People can write what they want and say that we're not a national championship team, but we're going to work hard every day and they can't take that away from us."
Oregon (15-6), meanwhile, has struggled this month. The Ducks are 3-6 in January after starting the season with 13 straight wins.
Oregon's leading scorer, junior guard Joseph Young with 18.1 points per game, is averaging 23 points in their last two contests.
