Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is expected to stay two more years at school. Winston and FSU coach Jimbo Fisher both indicated the 2013 Heisman winner will play football and baseball in college for two more years, ESPN reports.
Winston becomes eligible to declare for the NFL draft after next season. Fisher stirred speculation on Wednesday, however, that Winston will forego the 2015 NFL draft and remain at FSU for another two years.
"Everybody says, well he's going to stay one (more) year and leave. ... I think it'll be two," Fisher said, via ESPN.
Winston seemingly confirmed Fisher's prediction on Thursday to the Associated Press and admitted, "whatever (Fisher) says most likely is true."
"Obviously I'm a big baseball person, that's an accurate statement because I plan on playing baseball next season anyway," said Winston.
Although Winston is projected to be a top pick if he were to declare next year, playing baseball would interfere with his preparations for the NFL combine.
"Obviously, I'm not even worried about the draft and stuff like that," Winston said. "I'm worried about winning championships here at Florida State."
Winston, a redshirt freshman, dazzled in his first season and won the Heisman Trophy. He passed for 4,057 yards, 40 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions en route to the Seminoles' 14-0 season and BCS National Championship win.
