The Omaha Beef, a Nebraska indoor football team, is offering Tim Tebow a job, according to the Associate Press. The offer came a day after the New York Jets released the Florida Gator product.
The Beef tried to contact Tebow’s agent Jimmy Sexton and offered Tebow a $75 per game contract.
Andrew Mather, the assistant general manager for the Beef, admitted that he expected no return calls from Sexton’s office but he didn’t think it would hurt to ask.
So far, Beef quarterback James McNear has thrown 21 touchdowns and completed 70 percent of his passes. The team has gotten off to a 5-1 start. "I think Tim can learn a lot from me," said McNear.
Tebow was released by the Jets Tuesday, after a season which many deemed as an embarrassment for the franchise. There was also disappointment surrounding the Jets use of Tebow who became a punt protector of the team—a position that was viewed as disrespectful to a quarterback.
There is speculation surrounding whether or not Tebow will play in the NFL again. Some teams believe he brings a media circus while some are not too pleased with his lack of throwing ability. Still, others have spoke of how his intangibles on the field and in the locker room make him an asset to any team.
According to ESPN.com, Tebow completed 75 percent of his passes in the 2012-2013 season. However he only attempted eight passes. His career completion percentage is 47.9 percent.
Tebow led the Denver Broncos to a playoff win in the 2011-2012 season. While at Florida he won two BCS national championships and the Heisman Trophy.
