Oklahoma City (40-12) has been uneven in February, splitting their last four games with losses to the Washington Wizards and, most recently, the Orlando Magic. Still without Russell Westbrook, All-Star Kevin Durant remains the team's source of offense.
"We couldn't do anything (in the second half). We were just a step slow," Durant said, via ESPN. "We kept running the same plays. We didn't help on the back side. We let guys cut to (the) basket. ... There were just mental breakdowns."
Durant leads the NBA in scoring with 31.0 points per game. A key for Oklahoma City not dropping two games in a row will be limiting the damage done by the league's No. 2 scorer, Carmelo Anthony.
"We don't want to give him too much space," Thunder forward Nick Collison told the team website. "He likes space to be able to shoot his rhythm jump shot. You have to still have sound principles on the other guys. You can't always overreact or change your habits because they have a great scorer."
Despite a poor start to the season, New York (20-30) is still in contention for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks sit two games behind No. 8 Charlotte and just five games behind No. 5 Washington.
Anthony helped New York snap their three-game losing streak on Friday with his 31 points in a 117-90 rout of Denver.
"Everybody played their part," said Anthony. "It was a great team win and we want to build off that."
