David Petraeus Claims Hillary Clinton Would 'Make A Tremendous President'

In a book written about Hillary Clinton, former Army General David Petraeus told authors he believed she would "make a tremendous president," USA TODAY reported.

His remarks published in HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton, written by Johnathan Allen and Amie Parnes, comes out on Tuesday.

"Like a lot of great leaders, her most impressive qualities were most visible during tough times. In the wake of the Benghazi attacks, for example, she was extraordinarily resolute, determined, and controlled," said Petraeus, who was director of the CIA during the incident.

As USA TODAY reported, it is worth noting that Petraeus was a well-liked general among Republicans -- many who continue to chastise Clinton for the handling of the attacks in Benghazi. Additionally, Clinton was openly critical of the former general for his operations in Iraq.

According to ABC News, Clinton befriended Petraeus after she became Secretary of State, inviting him to her home in D.C. to discuss policies in the Middle East. In HRC, Allen and Parnes wrote that the meeting was so successful she asked him to meet with her again.

After Petraeus resigned from his position following a scandalous extramarital affair, Clinton wrote him a letter expressing her sympathy.

"I have a little experience," Clinton wrote in the note.
