If you filed your 2021 tax return early online and chose direct deposit and the IRS discovered no "problems" with your return, check your bank account to see if your refund has arrived.
The refund should arrive around March 1 if you filed early and claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. If you've checked your bank account but still don't know where your refund is, two IRS websites can help: Where's My Refund? and IRS2Go is also available.
Where To Find Details About Tax Refund?
If you go to the Where's My Refund? page, you can find out where your refund is. You can discover information regarding your refund on the IRS.gov page. Your Social Security number or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number), as well as your filing status (single, married filing jointly, head of household, etc.) and the amount of your return, will be required.
If you don't ordinarily have to file a tax return but have children, you must do so to qualify for child-related tax credits like the Child Tax Credit and the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
A taxpayer can get up to $3,600 for each child under the age of five and $3,000 for each child aged six to seventeen under the Child Tax Credit (ages are determined at the end of 2021). The credit can be claimed without proof of income, but the qualifying kid must have a Social Security number.
The Child and Dependent Care Credit allows a taxpayer to claim a credit of up to $4,000 for one eligible person and up to $8,000 for two or more qualified people based on qualifying child or dependent care expenses incurred while the taxpayer worked or looked for work. See IRS Publication 503 for further information, Forbes reported.
You can check the status of your refund within 24 hours after receiving your e-filed return, or about a month after mailing your paper return. You'll need to submit your Social Security number, tax filing status, and projected refund amount to track your refund.
According to the IRS, most tax refunds are shipped out in fewer than 21 days, but if you haven't received your refund after that time, you should contact the IRS.
You can pay any taxes you owe straight from your bank account using the IRS Direct Pay system via the IRS2Go app for free and securely. You can also pay with your credit or debit card using an approved payment processor.
If you qualify, you can use your mobile device to access free tax software to prepare, file, and get your return. You can also get free tax help from a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly facility near you. Older taxpayers, as well as those who earn $58,000 or less per year, have a disability or have a restricted capacity to communicate in English, are eligible for free tax assistance, as per GO Banking Rates.
