An officer from the Los Angeles Police Department and another man were injured in a shooting on Monday morning in Reseda, ABC News reported.
Police responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon around 9:30 a.m. Details surrounding the incident were unclear, but two people were transported to Northridge Hospital Medial Center, one of which suffered from two gunshot wounds.
A report in the San Francisco Chronicle said a 49-year-old man was arrested after shooting a man and then the officer. No names have been released.
The officer was treated for an arm injury, LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith said. He added the officer was "conscious and breathing" following the shooting but did not provide further information.
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck took to Twitter to announce the injured officer will be okay.
"Thankful our #LAPD Officer will be okay. He is in good spirits. Please keep him in your thoughts as he recovers. @LAPD_westvalley #courage," he tweeted.
A gun was recovered from the scene and a relation between the two men is unknown.
Local news station KTLA reported that at least two men and one woman were standing with their hands behind their heads as officers attended to a shirtless man on the ground. Additionally, a woman with two children walked out of the home around 10 a.m.
An investigation into the case is ongoing.
