Telegram was banned in Brazil after the Supreme Court ruled that the messaging service has refused to remove accounts that propagated misinformation.

The Telegram Founder and CEO gave a statement in response to the suspension, "it seems that we had an issue with emails going between our telegram.org corporate addresses and the Brazilian Supreme Court."

The mishap happens when Durov previously told the Brazilian Supreme Court to send any future takedown request to a dedicated email address meant specifically for that matter. However, the Supreme Court of Brazil continue to email the takedown request in what Durov called "the old general-purpose email address."

As a result, the messaging app now claims that it has missed the emails of the Brazil Supreme Court. Thus, Telegram has ended up being suspended in the country.
