Kanye West has been prohibited from performing at the Grammy Awards next month due to "concerning online activity," according to a representative for the music artist and fashion designer.
The 44-year- old's content was found to be in breach of the Instagram's policy on "hate speech, bullying, and harassment," according to the platform.
Trevor Noah, comedian, and Daily Show host, criticized West's posts about his ex-wife, model and businesswoman Kim Kardashian. West responded by using a racial slur. The post was then deleted.
West has won 22 Grammys from 75 nominations and is up for five awards this year. But he was not among the first list of performers announced this week. A representative for the music artist told The Blast that "Kanye's team isn't surprised by the decision".
NBC News reported that the organizer's decision was partly due to Noah being the host of the Grammys. The two men may cause some concern when they come across each other in person, as The Blast, which first reported the issue.
Variety reported that some people were outraged by the report, accusing it of being part of a racist or anti-hip-hop narrative. However, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. has stated that he successfully advocated increasing the number of Album of the Year candidates from eight to 10 beginning with the 2022 awards because hip-hop was underrepresented - and West's album "Donda" benefitted from that decision.
The Recording Academy, the organizer of the event, had not confirmed a planned performance by West, who got nominated for five Grammys for this year's ceremony scheduled on April 3 as per E! News.
Kardashian filed for divorce in January 2021 and was recently certified legally single. West has sent out multiple insults to Kardashian and comedian Pete Davidson, who is currently dating Kanye's ex-wife.
Conflict With Ex-Wife
West has also shared images of texts in which Kardashian claims that her ex-husband is "creating an unsafe and terrifying environment" and that "someone will hurt Pete and it will all be your fault." West has apologized for his behavior, yet he has continued to post.
West last week posted on social media about his concern that Davidson may get his ex-wife "hooked" on drugs.
"I'm [sic] genuinely worried that [he] will get my kids' mother addicted to drugs," West posted on Instagram, adding that the comedian goes to rehab, "Every two months".
Davidson did not deny using marijuana. Though he reportedly suggested that West should seek professional help. "I suffer from mental problems too," the comedian told West via text message.

Kim Kardashian is 'Terrifying'
Noah shared a video detailing his wish that society at large would change its treatment of West, Kardashian, and Davidson, as the situation became "more and more belligerent, as per Marca report.
The Daily Show host also denounced Kanye's behavior towards his former wife, saying that the music rapper and producer "may not feel sorry for Kim" due to her wealth and popularity, but her situation now is "terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave."
West replied to Noah with a racist slur.
