No. 7 Kansas responded to their seventh loss of the season by stringing together two straight wins. The defeat, an 81-69 loss on Feb. 1 to Texas, was followed with victories over Baylor and West Virginia. While freshmen Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid receive most of the attention, Jayhawks coach Bill Self has enjoyed the growing contributions from the rest of his team.

In Kansas' 83-69 win on Saturday over West Virginia, freshman guard Frank Mason, sophomore forward Jamari Traylor and senior forward Tarik Black all stepped up to help grab the victory. Mason dished five assists while Traylor and Black both came off the bench and scored 11 points and seven points, respectively.

"If you're going to pick three guys for who's the most valuable player, I would take Frank, Mari and Tarik," Self said, via ESPN. "They were great in the first half ... they were the main reason we had the lead."

Although Kansas won the first meeting on Jan. 11 against rival Kansas State, Self anticipates a bigger challenge for his Jayhawks when they visit Fred Bramlage Coliseum.

"I'm sure they're doing some things a little differently than they did the first game," said Self. "We know it will be a totally different game over there with the energy they get from their fans. It'll be a great test for our young kids to go over there and see how tough we are."

Kansas State (16-7), meanwhile, has lost three of their last five games. The Wildcats head into Monday's contest, though, fresh off an impressive 81-71 victory over Texas on Saturday. Kansas State has won 12 straight games at home since losing their season opener, according to ESPN.
