A defamation complaint filed against Cardi B and her sister Hennessy in connection with a heated confrontation along the shore in The Hamptons in 2020 was rejected by a New York trial court.
According to TMZ, three fellow beachgoers, one of whom was wearing a MAGA hat, sued Hennessy and her sister for defamation and assault and abuse, claiming that Hennessy labeled them "racist, MAGA fans."
Cardi B's Defamation Lawsuit Dismissed
While Cardi (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus) was not with her sister that afternoon, she did post a video of the confrontation on Twitter, claiming Hennessy and her friends were being targeted because they are Afro-Hispanic and gay.
Per Daily Mail, two men and a woman were seen arguing with Hennessy and her friends over her parked car at Smith Point Beach in the video. During the heated argument, there were several expletives shouted.
Hennessy (born Hennessy Carolina Almanzar), 26, allegedly spit on one of them and participated in disrespectful and threatening behavior, according to the three other beachgoers.
However, the court in the case ultimately decided that they were all merely broad comments that did not amount to defamation. The court found there was no indication that Hennessy meant to target the plaintiffs with the spitting charge, which was the basis for the assault and battery claim.

Tasha K Files Appeal After Losing Against Cardi B
Meanwhile, according to Radar Online, Tasha K's legal team has filed an appeal to avoid paying $4 million in damages to Bronx rapper Cardi B. The 39-year-old blogger's legal team formally filed a notice of appeal on Thursday, March 17, exactly one month to the day after a jury found her liable over comments she made about Cardi B on her YouTube channel.
Tasha K, whose actual name is Latasha Kebe, was fined almost $3 million in punitive damages and lawyers costs earlier this year after a jury found her responsible on counts of defamation, invasion of privacy, and infliction of mental distress.
According to Variety, the $3 million is on top of the $1.25 million Cardi B was already given. Tasha K stated that she published lies and other falsehoods against Cardi B on purpose to profit from her blogging career.
Tasha K was recently featured on a Social Society podcast episode with Kendall Kyndall and Kendra G. In the conversation, the hosts questioned Tasha K whether she had that kind of money to give to Cardi B.
In that interview, Tasha K highlighted the appeal. Cardi B didn't identify anyone by name or even say what she was referring to in her tweet after the podcast aired, but it appeared like her statement was in response to Tasha K's first reaction to not being paid.
