Artificial bodies could become a reality by 2045, according to Russian billionaire Dmitry Itskov, who is part of the 2045 movement, a non-profit group aimed at extending human longevity. This would allow people to transfer out of their old bodies and into the internet. Artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse technologies, he believes, will make this possible.
Mind uploading, according to Interesting Engineering, is the hypothetical process of extracting a person's consciousness from his body, converting it to a digital format, and then putting the digital consciousness into a machine. It could be accomplished through a variety of methods, including mind copying, mind transfer, mind preservation, and whole brain emulation (WBE).
The initial stage in this procedure is to obtain data from the brain, which contains around 125 trillion synapses in its cerebral cortex alone. Some argue that in order to fully recreate the information, the brain would have to be dissected first.
The artificial brain must next be rebuilt in the second step. According to an approximate estimate published in Scientific American, the brain's memory store capacity could exceed 2.5 petabytes (2,500 TB). As a result, the artificial brain should be able to deal with such a massive amount of data. GPT3, the world's biggest artificial neural network, currently has just 1/300 the capacity of the human brain.
The final step is to match the consciousness to a substrate, such as a metaverse, or a network of connected artificial brains. Musk's Optimus humanoid robot is another alternative, in which the physical robot acts as a person's new physical body.
