Democrats are thwarting Republican efforts to transfer the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop into the Congressional Record in a searchable digital manner.
The Democratic staff of the House Judiciary Committee, which is in charge of putting documents into the record, is refusing to upload the laptop due to technological problems.
Instead, they're asking Rep. Matt Gaetz's staff in Florida to print hard copies and PDF-format versions of the pages. Even though Gaetz's office volunteered to supply the necessary equipment to permit the digital file transfer, Democrats refused.
Democrats Block Motion to Subpoena Hunter Biden
Per MyValleyNews, Democratic staffers defended the request by stating that the House Judiciary Committee lacked the technology to digitally insert the laptop in its entirety into the record. According to a Republican source, Gaetz's office offered to supply a computer to the majority of staff so they could upload the files, but Democratic staffers rejected it.
Hunter Biden's business contacts have been emphasized by Republican Senators Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin in floor remarks, notably his position on the board of Burisma Energy and transactions with different Chinese state-owned firms. Jack Maxey, a former co-host of Steve Bannon's War Room podcast, is said to have given the two senators copies of the laptop. According to the Daily Mail, Maxey allegedly gave copies of the laptop to The Washington Post and The New York Times.
The Washington Post and The New York Times confirmed the legitimacy of Hunter Biden's laptop in March 2022. The Biden family's significant contacts with Chinese companies have been highlighted, including a presentation Hunter Biden delivered to Chinese executives advocating American shale and natural gas.
According to Hunter and James Biden's business partner Tony Bobulinski, Joe Biden was "plainly familiar" with Hunter's and his brother James Biden's business connections with CEFC China Energy. Joe Biden even submitted a college reference for Jonathan Li's son, who is now the CEO of the investment firm BHR Partners. Hunter Biden served on the board of BHR Partners and owned a 10% investment in the firm through his Skaneateles LLC company.

Prosecutors Obtain Data from Hunter Biden's Paternity, Tax Records
According to papers and an attorney involved in the case, prosecutors investigating Hunter Biden obtained data from a paternity lawsuit, including tax records for the president's son. Clint Lancaster told CBS News, "They wanted every record we had relating to Hunter Biden." Lancaster represented Lunden Roberts, a woman who claimed Hunter Biden was the father of her child, in a lawsuit filed in 2019.
The decision by federal officials to collect these data provides a new, if limited, look into the president's son investigation, which began as a tax investigation several years ago. Lancaster told CBS News that in the autumn of 2021, Lesley Wolf, the Assistant United States Attorney for Delaware, visited his Arkansas law office, accompanied by at least two federal agents, one from the FBI and the other from the Internal Revenue Service.
Lancaster said he and his client spent almost a half-day answering questions regarding Hunter Biden's business practices and private life. Investigators sought information regarding various firms associated with Hunter Biden, including Rosemont Seneca Partners, a firm where he worked for several years, according to Lancaster.
The line of questioning coincides with a federal subpoena issued by the US Attorney's office in Delaware in 2019. The subpoena requested "any records, documents, and accounts relevant to all financial/banking transactions" between 15 corporate companies and Hunter Biden, the president's brother James, and two business partners dating back to 2014 when Joe Biden was vice president.
