In newly released audio, Lindsey Graham can be heard complimenting Joe Biden as police sought to clear the Capitol during the January 6 incident.

The Republican senator predicted that the incident would bring the country together. When Congress reconvened moments later, the South Carolina legislator issued an emotional statement on the floor, imploring his colleagues to 'count me out' of Trump's world.

Lindsey Graham Heard Praising Biden, Condemning Trump

He's since reverted to applauding Trump for what he accomplished during his presidency and has even been seen golfing with him at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida. Martin and Burns, who write for the New York Times, explore the newly leaked audio in an upcoming book.

Martin delved into Graham's state of mind as the senator processed what had just transpired on Anderson Cooper's show Tuesday night. Martin said the conversation had occurred in a protected Capitol chamber. Senators were in the process of confirming Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election when the attack began. According to Insider, at least 828 individuals have been accused with participating in the Capitol incident.

After losing the popular vote, Trump claimed that the 2020 election was stolen from him. He keeps telling his fans that he has won. On the morning of January 6, his supporters gathered near the Capitol for a rally. Trump said that the election had been rigged once more, and urged his followers to fight back. Trump was impeached a second time as a result of the unrest.

Graham and Trump have had a rocky relationship since Trump entered office. During the president's term, however, he swiftly became one of his closest allies and most ardent supporters. That appears to have changed following the violence on January 6; however, the two have been seen golfing together since then.

Lindsey Grahan Suggests Using 25th Amendment

Graham, a staunch Trump supporter in Congress, is believed to have anticipated that the rebellion would act as a catalyst for the GOP to break free from him. He also demanded that his powers be taken away under the 25th Amendment. An 'enraged' Graham informed White House lawyer Pat Cipollone on January 6 that if Trump did not denounce the Capitol rioters more strongly, 'we'll be asking you for the 25th Amendment,' according to reports from the book acquired by Axios.

Recordings posted by Comedy Central's The Daily Show three months after January 6, Trump was on the phone pleading with Graham to tell reporters how amazing he is at golf, as per Daily Mail. Graham lambasted the president and the Democratic Party for politicizing the anniversary of the Capitol riot by blaming Trump, one year after saying Biden was the ideal person to lead.

President Biden, according to the senator, was attempting to create a bold political moment to redirect attention away from their unsuccessful presidency. Graham highlighted his displeasure with the president's and vice president's tone on the politicized Jan. 6th. "The American people reject what happened on January 6, but they will reject the Democratic Party in November 2022," Graham continued.

Martin and Burns have published numerous more startling audio recordings in the lead-up to the publication of "This Will Not Pass," including one in which House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said he planned to ask Trump to resign in the aftermath of the violence. Graham's office stated that the senator stands by his remarks on the recording, adding that it "was what he thought at the time," New York Post reported.
