After two arduous days of questioning, Johnny Depp's legal team ended up its cross-examination of Amber Heard by probing her on her connection with James Franco and allegations that she abused her ex-girlfriend.
Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp's lawyer, completed her cross-examination by bringing up claims that Amber Heard assaulted her ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree in 2009. Amber Heard was detained after two police reportedly saw him slap van Ree in the arm and take her necklace off, but the charges were swiftly dropped.
Johnny Depp' Team Questions Amber Heard
Vasquez had previously questioned Amber Heard on why James Franco paid her a visit in her Los Angeles penthouse in May 2016, the day after the violent altercation with Johnny Depp that ended their marriage.
The court previously heard that Johnny Depp was envious of Franco and suspected Amber Heard of having an affair with him. The jury was given video of Franco and Heard in the apartment building's elevator, according to Daily Mail.
The jurors laughed as they discovered a tweet that Amber Heard made to Johnny Depp's former lawyer Adam Waldman in March 2021. Amber Heard alleges Waldman's assertions that her allegations were a "hoax" were defamatory, and her $100 million lawsuit is based on those statements. Vasquez used an audio tape of Amber Heard admitting to hitting Johnny Depp to depict her as the aggressor in the relationship.
When questioned on Tuesday during her continuing defamation case about what influence, if any, her ex husband Johnny Depp played in Amber Heard securing a role in 'Aquama,' Heard answered, "He tried to get me fired from it," the Insider reported.
Amber Heard was then questioned about how she knew Johnny Depp intended to fire her. Depp urged former Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara to have Heard removed from the superhero film starring Jason Momoa and blacklisted from future productions. Johnny Depp has a lengthy history with the company, having appeared in films such as 'Transcendence,' 'Dark Shadows,' and the 'Fantastic Beasts' saga.
Johnny Depp allegedly sought to restrict what movie parts Amber Heard took during earlier trial evidence, according to Heard. 'Aquaman,' in which Heard plays Mera, a love interest of the main character played by Momoa, was the second of three DC films in which Heard was featured. Heard testified that the three-film arrangement began with 'Justice League' in 2017 and continued with 'Aquaman' and its sequel, 'Aquaman 2,' in 2023.
With over $1.1 billion in box office sales, the 2018 picture became one of WB's best-performing DC Extended Universe films. After getting a "pared-down" version of her role that "had taken away" action scenes with Mera and another character battling each other, Heard claimed she doesn't know whether she'll even feature in the final edit of the sequel, 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.'
Heard shot scenes for 'Aquaman 2' between July 15, 2021, and November 16, 2021, according to court records accessed by Insider. In late April, entertainment writer Grace Randolph stated that Heard gets less than 10 minutes of screen time in the picture. ' Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' has been put back from December to March 17, 2023, according to Warner Bros.
Another Former-Friend of Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Testified
Io Tillett Wright, a former close friend of both Depp and Heard, testified via video link during the trial hearings on Tuesday. In his testimony, he said that drug usage would reveal Depp's "cruel and misogynistic" side.
Per Mirror, he reportedly claimed that the actor revealed to him that his drug and alcohol addiction had created problems in prior relationships, but that the father of two "didn't enjoy living sober."
Wright was close with both of them until 2015 when he broke ties with Depp and is now just friends with Heard. The cross-examination of Heard was concluded at today's court session, and she was very emotional as she talked on the stand.
According to Depp's legal team, he has avoided making eye contact with his ex-wife during their high-profile court fight because he promised her in 2016 that she would never see his eyes again. Before her divorce, footage of James Franco visiting Heard's apartment was revealed.
The jury was shown a video showing the actor, 44, entering Heard's penthouse residence in Los Angeles just before 11 pm on May 22, 2016, as part of today's proceedings.
After only a year of marriage, she filed for divorce from Depp the next day. The late-night visit also occurred one day after police were summoned to the actress's residence on May 21, 2016, following a violent confrontation in which she claimed her ex-husband threw a phone at her. These charges are denied by Depp. Heard acknowledged that it was herself andFranco in the video after watching it.
