On Thursday, Johnny Depp's defamation trial against Amber Heard concluded, and it was time for some voices, like Elon Musk, to speak out.
Despite the fact that he was formerly Amber Heard's partner, the world's richest billionaire chose not to attend the lengthy trial between the two stars. Johnny Depp was the one who accused his ex-partner, Heard, of having an affair with Tesla's inventor.
Elon Musk Hopes Johnny Depp, Amber Heard To Move On
Elon Musk wanted to wait until the lawsuit was completed before speaking out and expressing his thoughts. "I hope they both move on," Musk remarked in response to Lex Fridman on Twitter.
Elon Musk and Amber Heard met while working on the set of Robert Rodriguez's film 'Machete Kills' in the summer of 2012. In 2013, she portrayed Miss San Antonio, Blanca Vasquez, while Musk participated in the film as himself in a cameo.
Heard and Musk were pictured as a pair for the first time in April 2017 while visiting the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on Australia's Gold Coast, according to Marca.
What if Johnny Depp Loses Against Amber Heard in Trial?
Jurors in the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard lawsuit are currently on a three-day vacation for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but are expected to resume deliberations on Tuesday.
The trial has captured the public's attention and potentially set an important precedent for victims of domestic violence. It may be a few days before the jury returns a final judgment, but what does it mean for Johnny Depp if his defamation claim is dismissed?
Johnny Depp is suing Heard for $50 million in lost revenue as a result of an article his ex-wife wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. She characterized herself as a public person representing domestic abuse, and Depp's legal team claims that the actor has lost a substantial amount of money as a result of the implication that he was the abuser.
If the jury rejects his civil claim, he will not obtain the large quantity of money, and Heard will not be required to pay his, likely substantial, legal expenses. It is also possible that the jury may decide that Depp is entitled to compensation for lost revenue, but that the $50 million number is excessive. In this case, he may be granted a reduced payment.
Even if he loses in the civil court action in Fairfax, Virginia, Depp may choose to appeal the ruling. However, until significant new evidence or testimony comes post-trial, it is difficult to see how this may be helpful.
Heard is more likely to sue Depp for taking the case to court. In reality, Heard has already filed a $100 million countersuit against her ex-husband, saying that he defamed her throughout his suit. Depp's legal team called the allegations false and a sexual assault farce.
As with Depp's complaint, the jury in that counter-claim might conclude that the number of $100 million is not warranted and award Heard a lesser, or even greater, the sum of money, as per AS USA via MSN.
Ex-Couple's Career Faces Another Battle After Court Trial
Whatever the findings in Depp's $50 million complaints and Heard's $100 million countersuits, one thing is certain: the destiny of their respective careers will be decided in the court of public opinion. For this article, CNN spoke with six entertainment industry professionals, some of whom spoke on the record to protect professional connections. According to a renowned Hollywood publicist who hasn't dealt with either Depp or Heard, neither of their images has done well.
Whether fair or unjust, the outpouring of support for Depp on social media throughout the trial, particularly on TikTok, may serve him well in the future, according to a seasoned publicist who has known Depp for years.
Darryl Marshak, an entertainment agent, believes that film companies will be unwilling to work with performers embroiled in a public dispute, at least at first. Heard has admirers, but much fewer than Depp, both in the entertainment industry and in and around the courthouse.
