The Chinese J-20 and Russian Su-57 are patrolling the Indo-Pacific, which is a direct challenge in joint combo patrols. Another is to show that US hegemony is not feared, but the two countries are unafraid of Washington.
China, Russia Cooperation
As part of their annual military cooperation plan, China's Ministry of National Defense confirmed last week that the Chinese and Russian Air Forces performed a joint strategic patrol over the Sea of Japan, East China Sea, and the West Pacific Ocean, as mentioned in the Global Times.
The PLAAF dispatched advanced H-6K strategic bombers, while Russian Aerospace Forces sent Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers for strategic patrol, reported the EurAsian Times.
Included in these patrols, according to Chinese military experts, are the stealth fighters that might lead air patrols. It is a threat to the US that considers the cooperation of Moscow or Beijing as their advanced fighters are challenging the US F-35.
A Chinese military expert and TV commentator, Song Zhongping, told an outlet that rapid changes on the battlefield needed better weapons. This includes fighter jets that patrol the region.
Advanced stealth fighters like the Mighty Dragon and the Felon may participate in the next patrol for better combat capacity.
He added that heavy bombers are important and escort fighters to engage enemies. Having stealth fighters as escorts will deter radar and attacks beyond visual range.
US assets will face a greater threat with Chinese J-20 and Russian Su-57 for joint combo patrols in the Indo-pacific last April.
American forces have been deploying the F-35s in the contested region, so the drill is a response to the lone stealth fighter of the USA. Moscow and Beijing have tension with Tokyo over the Sea of Japan; a probable stealth brawl could happen.
China's constant antagonism against Taiwan, and a flurry of military drills in April, finish a dangerous view. President Joe Biden recently declared that the United States might intervene if China decided to invade Taiwan.
Two opposing Air Force in the region makes it a powder keg as the US pushes its hegemony. Involved in these air drills are J-16 flankers of the PLAAF, which escorts the heavy bombers regularly into Taiwan's ADIZ.
Importance of Non-Stealth Jets
A report that says that the J-16 fighters were part of the joint patrol last Sunday said a state broadcaster, in a posted photo of two with the H-6K bomber and Tu-95MS bomber, noted Wion News.
Other sources stated the Defense Ministry of Russia had sent Su-30SM fighter jets to join the J-16 in the escort mission as a reciprocal arrangement. One observation is that the J-16 and Su-30 are both heavy fighters combined with the bombers, which will improve the combat readiness of the patrol.
The PLAAF Flanker in the patrol has dual PL-10 close-range combat missiles, with long-range air to air missiles, showed an expert.
Overall, the Chinese derivative of the Su-30 has been improved for long-range escort missions. The patrol was monitored by Tokyo but omitted non-PLAAF planes. If the stealth fighters were with the escort, they could have been missed.
Joint combo patrols, including the Chinese J-20 and Russian Su-57 in the Indo-Pacific, signify that Washington has been trumped with only the F-35 as the lone stealth fighter of the west used in the region.
